Students learn about various elements of the complex and exhilarating process of film and television directing in the two-year Post-Graduate Diploma course. Some of the areas covered, but not restricted to, include:

Cinema is a storytelling medium. It is the creative interpretation of the ideas embedded in the script that constitutes much of the process of filmmaking. It follows then that a filmmaker must have a keen understanding of the principles and techniques of storytelling. This is especially true in the Indian context, where directors are often required to develop their own story ideas for the screen.

The screenwriting module has the following objectives:

Inculcating in the student an appreciation of fine storytelling and understanding of its importance in cinema
Teaching of scriptwriting principles and techniques
Application of these principles and methods in student writing
Supervision of scripts for student projects

RAFT brings to you a 1 year course in Editing for Film and TV. This comprehensive course will provide a complete understanding of the Art and Craft of Editing. It will be an intensive programme in which students will be exposed to:

History of Cinema and development of the language of editing
Grammar of Editing – How to cut, Types of Cuts, What makes a cut work. (Theory, Practicals and Analysis)
